Navigating Resistance: Unlocking Change in Ourselves and Our Clients
We all encounter resistance in ourselves and others when engaging in mindbody work. Perhaps there are certain clients who never seem to move forwards, or colleagues who can’t seem to be open to our work. Perhaps in ourselves we feel a resistance to some aspect of the work, whether that’s putting ourselves out there, taking risks, or setting boundaries.
In this workshop, we’ll take a deep dive into resistance, and learn how to work with it so that it can transform into renewed energy to move us forwards, both personally and professionally. Through this workshop you will: -learn what resistance is -understand how resistance feels in your own body -learn how to identify resistance in clients and colleagues -be equipped to work with resistance to overcome barriers to progress in yourself and those you work with.
Drop-In Session
In the afternoon, we will have 4 stations set up where you can drop in to ask questions. This will also be an opportunity to explore anything which arose for you during the morning session, as well as seeking advice and insight on other things related to our work.
Each station will cover a different topic. Even if you don’t have a question yourself, you are welcome to sit in and listen to other’s questions or join in the discussion.
The stations will cover:
- Clinical questions: Yourself and the Work with Georgie Oldfield and Catherine Pollitt. This is a space to ask questions about your approach to the work, mindset struggles, patterns you notice in yourself, boundaries, etc.
- Clinical questions: Others and the Work with Pippa Cossens and Tania Miller. This is a space to bring questions about clinical conundrums with specific clients or colleagues.
- Business questions: Practicalities and Mindsets with Zoe Thompson. This is a space to ask advice about running a business.
- Supervision questions with Carole Randell and Irralee Andrzejowska. This is a space to ask questions about case studies and integrating the SIRPA approach into your work.
If you don’t have any questions to ask, this is a great opportunity to take some time to journal, reflect, and enjoy some self-care. The beautiful grounds and buildings of Charney Manor are yours to explore.
Drawing it all together
During this session, the drop-in facilitators will draw together the main themes which arose in each of their groups. This will be a chance for us all to discover what went on in drop-in groups we didn’t engage with and benefit from the collective wisdom of the SIRPA community.
A remarkable journey of growth and learning: Georgie Oldfield shares her biggest learnings from 15 years of running SIRPA
SIRPA turns 15 this year, and there is much to celebrate and reflect on. In this session, SIRPA’s founder and director Georgie Oldfield will share the biggest lessons she has learned through running SIRPA, from a clinical, business and personal perspective. Georgie was the first to pioneer the mindbody approach in the UK, and has overcome incredible personal and professional challenges to grow SIRPA to where it is today. Through sharing some of the wisdom she has gained, we hope you will leave inspired and encouraged in your own work moving this approach forwards.
Moving Forwards: what comes next for you personally and professionally?
To finish our weekend together, we will facilitate a time of personal reflection to help you crystallise your learnings and turn them into practical next steps which can have a tangible impact on your personal and professional life.
"A wonderful weekend of connection with so many lovely individuals all championing the holistic approach of mindbody health, whilst also being guided to delve deeper into some topical personal & professional development. Uplifting, informative and forward focused!"
